The Official Soviet Mosin-Nagant Rifle Manual by James F. Gebhardt

"The Official Soviet Mosin-Nagant Rifle Manual" is another good translation and reference guide for the Mosin rifle. James F. Gebhardt is a retired US Army Major who served as a linguist in assignments ranging from the United States to Germany and the former Soviet Union. He has translated several other books and this one showcases his skills at
interpreting the nuances of the Russian language. The book focuses on the M38 and M44 carbines as well as the M91/30 and it's sniper variant. It covers the construction, maintenance, marksmanship and statistics about the rifles. The information is a faithful translation of the original Russian manual. Contact

Drei Linien Die Gewehre Mosin-Nagant by Karl-Heinz Wrobel
Drei Linien Die Gewehre Mosin-Nagant or "Three Line The Weapon Mosin-Nagant" is one of the most comprehensive books on the Mosin rifle found outside of Finnland. Karl-Heinz is a historian and collector who has done extensive research on the Mosin rifle. His book covers it's entire
history from it's inception in 1891 to it's many evolutions lasting up nearly to the end of the cold war. Of course for the average American reader, it does require you to brush up on your German as the entire book is written in that language. However, it has enough pictures and illustrations in it to make the book a good read even if you don't understand the language. Although the book isn't availiable here in the
United States, it can be ordered through the publisher - JOURNAL VERLAG SCHWEND, SCHMOLLERSTR. 31, D-74523 SCHWAEBISCH HALL, GERMANY. Just send them an email at buchvertrieb@schwend.de to inquire on the current prices.
Central Artillery Administrative Board of the Red Army, 7.62mm
Sniper Rifle Model 1891/1930r Description (PU Scope)

Translated by Paul Tamoney This is the latest offering for Soviet manual translations. It was put together by an expatriate American living in the U.K. The manual's official title is, "Central Artillery
Administrative Board of the Red Army, 7.62mm Sniper Rifle Model 1891/1930r Description (PU Scope)" dated "Moscow 1945. The manual packs an incredible amount of detail and diagrams into 34 pages. This is a straight translation without any additional notes or background which accounts for it's compact size. The illustrations center around the PU scope, showing the most amount of detail I have ever seen. I highly
recommend this book for anyone that owns a 91/30 PU Sniper. Pricing is $20.00 including postage and handling if ordered from Paul directly at PTamony@aol.com .

From the Author of "The Mosin-Nagant Rifle" -
The Soviet Mosin-Nagant Manual
by Terence W. Lapin The Soviet Mosin-Nagant Manual is just that, the actual field manual for the Mosin Nagant rifle translated from
Russian with comments and notes by Mr. Lapin. I read through this latest book in less than a couple of hours and realized I was like a kid in a new store. I ran through all the isles but I didn't take the time to examine everything that was there. I went back and re-read the book and was amazed at all the detail I missed the first time
through. This book covers everything from the individual parts of the MN to chapters on the operation, cleaning zeroing and even training standards. There is even a section on zeroing the sniper rifle. The book is a faithful translation of the original document and well worth the wait since Terence Lapin's first book. Terence Lapin’s latest book, The Soviet
Mosin-Nagant Manual, an English translation of the Soviet army’s own training manual, with explanatory notes, is available directly from: Hyrax Publishers, P. O. Box 10885, Arlington, VA 22210, for $15.95 plus $2.75 s & h. (and 72¢ sales tax from VA residents). Checks or money orders only.
The Mosin Nagant Rifle by Terence W. Lapin Mind Candy for the Mosin Maniac Terence
W. Lapin, is a linguist, national security analyst, lawyer and now one of America's leading authorities on the Mosin Nagant rifle. Lapin joins that exclusive club of Mosin Nagant scholars comprising of himself and Doug Bowser. In his book, he covers the history, identification, proofs and care of these historic rifles. It's filled with facts about the rifle, it's inventors and contributors as well as production
statistics. For less than $20.00, the reader is offered an in-depth look at the Mosin Nagant in unprecedented detail. This book demonstrates Lapin's extraordinary talent for research and narrative. When you pick this one up, it stays glued to your hands like today's Shotgun News. The only time you want to put it down is when you haul out your Mosin Nagants to check them for the features and markings that Terence W.
Lapin so clearly describes. Published by North Cape Publications, this book is but one in an ever growing series featuring military surplus guns. After I spend the next few weeks making all the corrections to my web site as a result of reading this book, I will feature another book in the North Cape Publications "Collector's Series".
