New Production Mosins
These are pictures that have been forwarded by Paul Tamony to me of two new production Mosins out of Russia. My understanding is that they are designated the OTs 48 and OTs 48K.
The basis of this model seems pretty straight forward. The receiver and barrel
suggests a M91/30 sniper on steroids. Note the muzzle brake and adjustable stock. The bipod appears to be a commercial type.
 The
butt stock appears fully adjustable for length and height of the cheek rest. Note the integrated butt pad and what appears to be a commercial sling attachment. Here's what the manufacturer says about the rifle: The model
OTs 48 is designed to engage targets in the open, in fortification, and in military vehicles. Shooting can be preformed with ordinary rifle ammunition, tracer, armor piercing, incendiary and sniper grade ammunition.
The sniper rifle OTs 48 is of a modern design with adjustable butt plate, adjustable cheek piece, muzzle brake, bipod and has a highly ergonomic layout. All of this
raises the efficiency of sniper fire from this rifle with a degree of higher accuracy. The rifle is based on the Mosin
Model 1891/1930 r. sniper rifle.
The rifle is equipped with a 7 power telescopic sight model PKS - 07Y. It is also possible to fit different optical sights of foreign manufacture. The rifle can be fitted with the PKH 03 night vision sight.

This particular model is baffling to me! A bull pup design based on Mosin parts. The barrel appears to be a standard
91/30 barrel with a really strange front site arrangement. There appears to be a bipod attachment and a standard PSO1 scope attached. It appears that these rifles won't come to our shores as they have been placed strictly in the police and military market with no current plans for export.
